David Sayler

DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS

David Sayler was named Miami's Athletic Director on Dec. 13, 2012. He came to Oxford after two years at the University of South Dakota. Under Sayler’s watch, Miami Athletics acomplished records on and off the field - including a semester GPA of 3.24 in the spring 2013. Miami also won an all-time high eight conference championships during the 2012-13 academic year. Miami’s success was validated by the RedHawks winning the MAC’s Jacoby Cup for overall excellence in women’s athletics and a third straight MAC Sportsmanship Award this past year.

DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS

Mark Rountree, a veteran athletics administrator for six different universities that include Georgetown, Oregon State, and Maryland, joined the Miami staff in March of 2013. He oversees football, men’s and women’s basketball, academics, and strategic planning for the department, as well as serving as the department’s primary day-to-day administrator. Rountree graduated from Louisiana Tech University where he was a four-year, letter-winning runningback for the Bulldogs from 1987-90.

Associate Athletic Director

Steve Brockelbank is Miami’s new Director of Football Operations. Brockelbank spent three seasons as offensive line coach at Grand Valley State. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1991, was a three-year letterwinner and a two-time All-Mid American Conference performer for the Eagles on the gridiron.

Craig Bennett

Craig Bennett

Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support Services

Craig Bennett is the Assistant Athletic Director - Academic Support Services for Miami. A RedHawk alum, he earned his B.A from Bluffton University in 1998 before earning his Masters from Oxford in 2000. Bennett has previously worked in academic assistance at The University of Cincinnati as well as Central State. He has worked for Miami since 2007.

Chad Burns

Assistant equipment manager

Chad Burns begins his fifth year as chief assistant to Darrell Hallberg in Miami’s Department of Equipment Services. Burns earned his degree from Eastern Michigan University in Communications in 2009, working with Hallberg at EMU as a student equipment manager. He also served as an equipment intern for the Indianapolis Colts. A talented artist, Burns is known as the “Dancing Equipment Manager.” His YouTube video has nearly 200,000 views.

Nick Eippert

Director of Video Operations

In 2012, Nick Eippert was named Miami’s primary video coordinator. He spent four years at Capital University, working in a variety of positions, including director of football operations, video coordinator, assistant recruiting coordinator, and as an intern assistant coach for quarterbacks and tight ends. Eippert earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio State University in 2011.

Assistant football trainer

Paul Eversole is in his seventh year as an athletic trainer at Miami University and his third with the RedHawk football team. He assists Dave Donnelly in that role and coordinates training for the RedHawk baseball team. Eversole is a five-year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg (North Carolina). He earned his Master’s of Science in 2007 and graduated from Miami University in 2001.

ASSISTANT A.D. FOR EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS and Special Projects

Darrell Hallberg is the RedHawks equipment manager. He enrolled at the University of South Carolina on an academic scholarship where worked as an equipment manager and assistant under the football team’s Coach Lou Holtz and graduated with a degree in Sports Administration in 2001. “He’s very substantial to our program because student athletes come in contact with him daily,” Chuck Martin says. “He’s a great role model for them and Darrell handles that with great enthusiasm.”
