Matt Pawlowski brings over 30 years of coaching experience to Oxford, Ohio, which includes 25 years of experience as a defensive coordinator. Prior to Miami, Pawlowski spent four seasons as the defensive coordinator at Western Carolina (2008-11) after serving in the same capacity for four seasons at Grand Valley State University, where he was a part of two NCAA Division II National Championships.
Defensive Backs Coach
John Hauser begins his first year as the defensive backs coach for the RedHawks. Hauser spent the previous two seasons at The Citadel in charge of the Bulldog safeties and has nine years of experience coaching the defensive backs position. Prior to The Citadel, Hauser was the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Wayne State University for four seasons and defensive backs coach at Northern Illinois in 2006.
defensive Line Coach
Corey Brown begins his first year as the defensive line coach at Miami. Brown spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant for the defensive coaching staff at the University of Notre Dame. A former defensive lineman at the University of Iowa, Brown has seven years of experience coaching the defensive line. This past season with the Fighting Irish he mentored All-American defensive ends Stephon Tuitt and defensive tackle Louis Nix.
Joseph Palcic, a 1998 graduate of Miami University and a former RedHawk assistant coach, returns to his alma mater to coach linebackers. He spent the past season with Alabama as a defensive analyst. Palcic spent six seasons as the co-defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach at Indiana University from 2005-10, helping the Hoosiers advance to their first bowl game in 13 years. Palcic was a Miami assistant coach from 1999-2004.
